A Level students make the grade!

STUDENTS in Formby are celebrating another successful year of A Level results, after receiving their grades last week (Thursday August 13). More than half of the students at Formby High School received top grades (A*- B) with an outstanding 100% of sixth form students receiving an overall pass rate of A* to E grade. Among this year's individual successes are, Joshua Dowson and Katy Monahan who achieved four A* and A grades, Eleanor Aberdein, Matthew Ashby, Gerard Curtis, Ellen Harrison and Joshua Wallbanks who achieved three A*/A grades. Georgina Hannaway, Luminita Maranda and Chloe Turner all achieved 3 Distinction* grades in their BTEC courses while Madeleine Scott achieved an A grade at A Level and 2 Distinction* at BTEC. Headteacher, Dominic Mackenzie, said: “The commitment, dedication and enthusiasm of the students have paid dividends with these excellent results. ”They don’t happen by chance and are a culmination of two year’s hard work and determination. “Congratulations to all of our Year 13 students on their well-deserved and best wishes for the future.” Mrs Pamela Bell, Chair of Governors, added: “I am delighted that in this, my final year as Chair of Governors, students have yet again pushed the boundaries and achieved outstanding success. ”On behalf of a very proud Governing Body, congratulations to all students and good luck in your future careers and university courses next year. “I would also like to offer the Governors’ thanks to all the staff for their hard work in preparing the students so thoroughly for their examinations.” Range High School also announced they were equally delighted with the full pass rate and continued increase in the number of top grades. The school revealed that 2015 has been their best ever A level results. Headteacher Graham Aldridge said: “I would like to congratulate all our students on these fantastic results and thank all our staff and the students’ families whose support has contributed to their success. ”We are very proud that they are able to move confidently to the next stage of their education.“
