Just two years ago local dad Gary Ross was recovering from heart surgery. This month he is launching his new eco-friendly domestic cleaning and home care business, Bright & Beautiful.
Gary, who lives in Formby with wife Jane and daughter Ella, had worked in a senior role for companies including Tesco, Littlewoods and the Arcadia Group for over 25 years. In 2013 he was diagnosed with a hole in the heart and had to undergo major surgery at the Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital.
Having been through such a life-changing experience Gary knew the time was also right for a complete career change and he decided to launch his own business, one that would enable him to work locally and see more of his young family. Gary’s Bright & Beautiful business now has a team of cleaners to deliver ethical, professional and eco-friendly housekeeping services that include cleaning, tidying and laundry in the areas of Formby, Southport, Sefton, Ainsdale, Birkdale, Hightown, Crosby, Blundellsands, Ince Blundell and Halsall.
Gary says: “While it is accepted that mums often need to have a more flexible career people seem to think that men are happy to be working, travelling and away from our families. That’s simply not true and I see more and more dads setting up their own companies so they can escape the rat race and really enjoy family life.
“When something like serious illness touches you it really makes you rethink what is important in your life and I hope my story will encourage other men to be brave and embrace a different way of working. I’m really looking forward to Bright & Beautiful becoming a big part of community life in Formby and helping to give local families their hugely important leisure time back by taking on all of those cleaning, tidying and ironing jobs that eat into their free time and weekends.”
Bright & Beautiful is an award-winning business model that was founded by entrepreneur Rachel Ray in 2007. A busy working mum herself, Rachel spotted a gap in the market for a domestic cleaning company that provided full fair employment rights for its team, non-toxic cleaning products and an exceptional housekeeping service for its clients. Since then the business has grown from strength to strength with franchisees around the UK employing carefully vetted professional housekeepers and servicing thousands of clients.
