Insomnia Coffee comes to Formby
MJ's drive-thru has proven popular since it opened in January
Insomnia, the most popular brand of coffee on the Irish high street (overtaking brands such as Costa and Starbucks), is now on sale at the Formby drive-thru - and it’s not the only new addition to the restaurant.
The drive-thru has proven popular since it opened in January and has become home to midweek events, through the help of local comedian Brendan Riley.
And from this Sunday, groups of all ages will be able to try their luck in Family Bingo.
Noel Davis, founding director of King Parrot Foods and owner of MJs, said: “We’ve been blown away by the response we’ve had since we opened, we’re doing 6000 meals a week now.
“We’re hoping to open other venues further afield and turn into a chain, creating more jobs within the borough.
“MJs is a very unique concept, and Insomnia is a unique brand of coffee, so it just made complete sense.
“You can stop off on your way to work, without having to leave your car, and pick up a great cup of coffee for less than you’d pay elsewhere.”
Insomnia, whose slogan is ‘Love Being Awake’, pened its first outlet in a Galway bookstore in 1997.
It now operates more than 90 coffee shops across high streets and through partnerships.
Insomnia's hot chocolate is made in a special 'chocolate' kettle.
Filip Spevak, operation manager at Insomnia, said: “We take what we do very seriously, only the best will do.
“For example, unlike a lot of other chains, our hot chocolate is made by melting a block of high quality milk chocolate in a special kettle.”
