THE ANNUAL Piano Marathon, recently held in Waitrose Formby, in aid of the Leonard Cheshire Home for the Disabled, Freshfield, helped raise more than £2,000 for the charity. The money will be donated to Leonard Cheshire to provide the residents of the home with much needed items of new equipment. Graham Jones, Volunteer Music Co-ordinator at Leonard Cheshire Home said: “It was not possible to achieve this without the willingness of the team of 50 volunteer pianists and collectors and the exceeding generosity of the Waitrose shoppers.” The ages of the participants spanned across eight decades, and they all played and collected for 23 hours over two days. Graham added: “As always, the staff and customers of Waitrose Formby were supremely generous in their support, and on behalf of the residents of Freshfields may I, offer a warm and heartfelt thank you to all who made this event happen - and so successfully.”
