Only Half a Story....

This is a photo of my gorgeous dog. She has lovely eyes, a brilliant smile and a wet nose. I know you can only see the dirty business end, but I assure you she is all there. No, although I am not good at taking photos this is the photo I meant to take. It shows you half the story, and you can’t see the most important bit.
Recently I went to Preston to see a fabulous performance of Jesus Christ, Superstar. Despite loving musicals I have never managed to see this one – somehow it slipped past. Lead was this gorgeous handsome talented young actor, dressed in white, with the obligatory ‘Jesus’ beard. He performed with a genuine insight into the peaceful love and grace that was, I believe, Jesus and with an acting skill that made his mother and I cry. His affection for the other characters, his pain and sorrow were palpable. The cast supported him passionately with emotional rendering of the songs.
The show was a well-deserved hit. It was a fantastic show written by famous people, and performed amazingly by a group of talented students. However the joy we felt for the story was marred by a cloud of disappointment.
The show stops, where Jesus’ good news begins at his crucifixion. Jesus is nailed to the cross, dies and the lights go out. Finish! End. Yet, like my photo of my dog, half the story is missing. Jesus did die, but He rose again! He died as human and returned through the power and love of God.
The musical was only half the story. Do you think there might be a Jesus Christ Superstar 2?
