FORMBY Squirrels Rotary Club recently held a collection at Waitrose Formby to help raise vital funds for rescue aid following the Nepal earthquake. On Saturday May 2, the group were at the Three Tuns Lane store collecting donations for the Nepal disaster. All funds raised will go towards the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal, to help those affected by the Nepal earthquake. Formby Squirrels Rotary managed to raised £1,434 from their collection, and this will be added to the £33 million already raised through UK donations. The money given by the UK public will be used to help the estimated eight million people in need. Many lost their homes in earthquake and need food, water, shelter and medical care. Chair of Squirrels Rotary, Ros Gelder said: “We were really grateful to Waitrose for allowing us to do our collection at their store and allowing their customers to partake in this appeal. ”We are amazed at how generous all the customers were and would sincerely like to thank everyone for their generosity. “This money will be given to a great cause and will help so many people affected by the disaster.”
