STAFF and volunteers at Freshfields Animal Rescue Centre have issued a heart felt thanks to the Formby community, after they were inundated with donations for one of their rescue dogs. The Ince Blundell rescue centre called on the residents of Formby to help them cover the cost of an life enhancing operation for one of their rescue dogs, Maggie, after she suffered a torn knee ligament. Following the appeal, the centre were flooded with donations to help pay for the operation to repair the three year olds cruciate ligament. Maggie, a mastiff boxer cross, underwent her surgery on Wednesday April 29, and is currently recovering at the centre. Kate Jones who works at the kennels at Freshfields said: “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated towards her operations. ”Many of our volunteers live in Formby, and they have been very generous in donating towards the cost of Maggie's surgery. “Her previous owner sadly had to give her up due to personal circumstances, but has continued to help us provide support for Maggie. ”We are very grateful to the local community for coming through for us and helping us to give Maggie the chance of a new and better life. “Maggie has been with us for a long time now and is still patiently waiting for someone to take her home. She is a sensitive dog, quite timid when she first meets new people, but once she feels comfortable around people, she is a playful and extremely loving dog. ”We would love to hear from you if you would like to adopt Maggie. Please call the Liverpool centre on 0151 931 1604.“
