Home in Formby is the most expensive property sold in Merseyside so far this year

At the top of the pile is a palatial home in Formby that changed hands in January for a princely £900,000.

It is located in Red Barns, a gated community off Victoria Road – dubbed Merseyside’s “millionaires’ row” due to the large number of celebrities and tycoons who live there.

A second Merseyside home was also sold for £900,000 in January, according to the Land Registry.

This grand property is located on Waterloo Road, Birkdale, Southport.

Meanwhile, a house in Leas Park, Hoylake, near the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, was sold a month later for £845,000.

A luxurious timber-framed property in Manor Road, Thornton Hough, went for £820,000 in January.

The Thornton Hough property is located in the CH63 post code area, recently found to be the most desirable place to live and work in England, according to a Royal Mail survey.

Finally, a home on St Anne’s Road, Aigburth , was snapped up for a whopping £800,000 at the end of January.

According to the Land Registry, 69,445 properties were sold nationally in the first two months of 2015, although auction sales and property bought through companies are not included in these figures.
