POLICE are appealing for help to trace a missing registered sex offender. Leanne Gilder, 29, was convicted at Manchester Crown Court in May 2012 of causing/inciting prostitution of/pornography involving a child aged 13 to 17 years. She was sentenced to five years imprisonment and made subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) for life. She was released from prison on licence in September 2014 and was last seen at an address in Preston but is now wanted for a breach of her licence conditions and for failing to notify police of her whereabouts. Gilder is described as being white, 5ft 7ins, slim build, scruffy appearance, and has long hair which is now believed to be dyed bright red. She speaks with a Manchester accent. Officers believe she may have links to Blackpool and Preston. “I would appeal to anyone who has seen Gilder or who has any information about where she might be to contact us. I would also urge Gilder herself, if she sees this appeal, to hand herself in to the police.” Detective Inspector Jo Dent, of Lancashire Constabulary’s Dangerous and Sexual Offenders’ Unit Anyone with information should contact police on 101 where details can be passed to the DASO (Dangerous and Sexual Offenders’) Unit West.
